Hello? It’s really dark in here….
This year’s been quite the exception, the seasons have been remarkably stereotypical what with Halloween beeing a nice cool, clear and spooky night. Thanksgiving was cold outside and warm inside and i certainly had/have a lot to be thankful for. Well as fast as Christmas approaches, the cold air, cardinals at the feeder, that crazy cold/clear night sky i’m really kinda feeling the spirit actually!
So Julie and Stacey were staying over and helping out with the kids so i could keep woking on the den (which you can see at www.wilsontek.com/gallery2/ ) and Leslie could take a breath. They camped out on our bed and watched TV until they were super sleepy. Then they all slept on the floor in Em’s room. I gave them a glow stick in case they got lost
Woke up the next day (Sun), grabbed some coffee and saw the girls off to church while i communed with God a little differently by bringin my neighbor some hot coffee and helping him split a few cords of wood and breathing in that wonderful crisp winter air!
Later Julie helped me decorate the house w/ lights (that Em picked out the day before) while Stacey, Emily and Leslie put up the tree and decorations inside. Julie mentioned “uncle Peter it’s really quiet up here” and so we stood in silence and listened to the wind, and the birds as the seed cracked between their beaks, and just then ….a crackling tapping noise on the fallen leaves. Everywhere it grew louder and louder and we smiled at each other as we saw it comming down and realized; it was snow!! We finished up and went inside to admire our work and the snow from somewhere warmer. We cranked up the ol christmas tunes by Bing and Burl and Nat, danced, had hot coco and then each enjoyed a fat stack of pankackes w/ real VT maple syrup for dinner. Yeah, you know you want some!
Julie and Stacey went home and the kids got into their footy PJ’s. I cracked open a well deserved brew and looked back on an immensly enjoyable and rewarding day if i may say so. It really kicked ass in so many ways i felt like sharing it.
Cheers!
